Voice Engineer
For more than 15 years, the Voxology team has developed and operated one of the industry’s leading communications platforms as a service (CPaaS). Engineered to support the unique needs of the most demanding, ultra-high volume users, the Voxology platform enables millions of client interactions everyday. We are a growing team that loves building innovative and reliable products in our exciting industry and we are looking to add to our team! We are currently seeking a voice engineer to assist in the management of our voice platform.
Ultimately, we’re a small team and we all wear multiple hats. Everyone pitches in across VoIP, database, infrastructure, and networking but this role will primarily specialize in voice engineering. We are looking for someone pretty skilled in VoIP/SIP with some good linux and scripting skills.
Our teams are managed via an Agile-style sprint to try to mitigate the feeling of having the whole infrastructure on your shoulders. We storypoint our work, and do our best to complete our sprints. This position will be hourly with (very occasional) overtime. We like this because it changes the dynamic and better aligns our interests…it creates a cost for us if we work you too much. We do most of our maintenance during the day. (Nighttime maintenance == nighttime emergency phone calls. Who wants that?!?). We also ask our team to answer their phones when they ring. Generally, this means an after hours phone call once every couple of months but we don’t expect you to keep your phone on 24×7. We all live our lives. Don’t believe us? Ask our other employees in the interview.
We operate our own on-premise cloud infrastructure, based primarily on open source technologies, and our own internally developed software. The ideal candidate is hungry, humble, and smart and will take ownership and responsibility for voice engineering, monitoring, and automation. You’ll embrace our blameless culture while honing your skills at planning maintenance and reducing downtime. You should be comfortable taking on large projects and working through to understand the nuances sprinkled throughout the infrastructure. You have a strong determination to pull apart thorny problems and identify creative solutions.
We have a nimble, cross-functional team fostering collaboration and operational success. As a small company, we have opportunities for you to get involved at all levels of the organization, in whatever areas ultimately interest you the most.
We are a 100% remote team but we try to get together as a team a couple of times a year.
Pay will be commensurate with experience.
