COMPENSATION: $80K-$85K annually

SUMMARY OF POSITION

We are seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager to lead sourcing, supplier relationships and performance management activities for a key subset of Meteor’s suppliers. Meteor Education, a private equity-backed leader in K-12 and post-secondary learning environments, provides educational furniture, technology, equipment, and design solutions to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. In this role, you will be responsible for developing new sources for key categories and markets, driving improvements in supplier performance, and generating cost savings while supporting our continued business growth. You will collaborate closely with the sales team to identify priority categories, conduct market analysis, and create sourcing strategies that align with business objectives.

Key responsibilities include sourcing and evaluating suppliers, managing supplier relationships, and implementing performance improvement plans to ensure long-term partnerships and operational excellence. Additionally, you will lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance Meteor’s supply chain management functions. The ideal candidate will have a collaborative mindset, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a proven track record of delivering results.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sourcing Strategy: Collaborate with the sales team and conduct analysis to identify priority categories, products, and markets to develop sourcing strategies. Define sourcing objectives, identify resources needed, and plan project timelines.
  • Sourcing Suppliers: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers that meet the company’s quality, cost, and delivery requirements. Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends and potential new suppliers.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure long-term partnerships and effective communication. Support negotiation of contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and conditions. Conduct supplier meetings to ensure alignment to strategy and progress with corrective and improvement actions.
  • Supplier Performance Management: Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, including quality, delivery, and cost metrics. Support escalation of recurring or high impact supplier performance issues. Implement corrective action and improvement plans as needed and conduct regular performance reviews to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Continuous Improvement: Generate new ideas and identify best practices to support the further development and improvement of Meteor’s strategic sourcing function. Lead and support the implementation of new and improved processes.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, manufacturing, distribution, or supply chain management role.
  • Professional certification in supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and negotiation experience.
  • Demonstrated success working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Excel, Tableau, or other relevant software.
  • Experience in a distribution environment is preferred but not required.
