Software Engineer (Remote – US)

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of Ambry Genetics. We are currently looking for a Software Engineer II in the United States.

This is a remote role (PST hours preferred) that places you at the heart of developing custom software and system integrations in a collaborative, agile environment. You’ll design technical solutions from end to end, work cross-functionally with IT and operations teams, and contribute to a mission-driven organization that combines technology and healthcare innovation. Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop, and deliver custom software and integrations aligned with user requirements and business goals.
  • Lead technical solutions from ideation to deployment, accurately estimating time and complexity.
  • Participate actively in agile ceremonies, such as sprint planning, daily standups, and backlog grooming.
  • Collaborate with IT and stakeholders to understand workflows and clarify software needs.
  • Review code with a focus on clarity, quality, and consistency, while mentoring junior engineers.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues by monitoring processes and analyzing logs.
  • Document solutions thoroughly and contribute to knowledge sharing across teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 2+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree in the same.
  • Strong full-stack development background and experience with object-oriented programming.
  • Proficiency with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL; knowledge of NoSQL is a plus.
  • Solid experience using version control tools (e.g., Git) with branching and merging.
  • Comfort working with data in structured and unstructured formats (JSON, CSV, XML, HL7, FHIR).
  • Knowledge of APIs and web services (REST, SOAP, AMQP), and basic serverless/microservices architecture.
  • Preferred: Experience with Golang, Python, or Java; cloud services (AWS/Google); CI/CD tools (Terraform, Jenkins); EMR system integration; or AI/ML technologies.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence) and bioinformatics is a bonus.
