Senior / Staff Software Engineer (Fully remote) – New Healthcare Product
Location: Ireland-based – fully remote, office, or hybrid: whatever you like. We have offices in Galway and Dublin.
About Us
Health Care Informed (HCI) is Ireland’s leading provider of patient safety and quality improvement support services. We’re on a mission to make it easier for healthcare professionals to deliver safe, high-quality patient care—globally. By joining our growing engineering team, you’ll help shape a brand-new compliance product that already has strong early traction in the market. We’ve launched AI-powered features that are already creating significant value for customers.
Why This Role Is Different
- High Impact: You’ll be among the first engineering hires on a new product that’s critical to HCI’s future.
- Ownership & Autonomy: You’ll architect and build features end-to-end, have direct input into product decisions, and help shape technical direction.
- Career Growth: This Senior/Staff-level position has a clear path to Principal-level responsibilities over time. You’ll be hands-on, but also have the opportunity to mentor others and influence strategy as our engineering team grows.
- Mission-Driven: The work you do will directly improve patient safety and empower healthcare professionals.
- Practical AI Integration: You’ll collaborate on existing AI features—which are already live and delivering tangible value—and explore new AI-driven solutions with a focus on real-world customer benefits.
What You’ll Do
- Technical Leadership: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop a scalable platform. Experience with C#, React, SQL and Azure is a plus—though we value adaptability and a willingness to learn above specific stack mastery.
- Architectural Decision-Making: Partner with peers to make high-level decisions on backend and frontend frameworks, DevOps processes, and scalability patterns.
- Hands-On AI Involvement: Contribute to existing AI-driven features—improving them, troubleshooting issues, and designing new capabilities that seamlessly integrate into our product.
- Customer-First Focus: Keep patient safety and healthcare provider needs top of mind. Propose solutions that deliver the highest business and user impact.
- Ownership & Delivery: Take features from concept to production. Ensure code quality, testing coverage, reliability, and observability.
- Mentorship & Team Building: Guide less experienced engineers, provide feedback, and help cultivate an environment of continuous learning.
Requirements
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ Years of Industry Experience: Proven track record in software engineering across multiple languages or frameworks.
- Strong Backend & Frontend Skills: C# & React are bonuses, but not must-haves if you can pick up new technologies quickly. Experience building scalable APIs (.NET Core, Spring Boot, Node.js, Jakarta EE, etc.) and event-driven architectures is a must.
- Cloud Experience: Ideally Azure, but AWS or GCP experience is also valued.
- Demonstrated Impact: Experience solving team- or group-level challenges is advantageous.
- Excellent Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively, exchange feedback, and articulate complex technical ideas in a simple way.
- Curiosity & Ownership: A desire to propose new ideas, experiment, and drive continuous improvement, including exploring AI as it benefits real users.
