Senior Revenue Accountant
The Senior Revenue Accountant is responsible for overseeing the revenue recognition process, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the financial reporting and audit processes. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
This role will be working from home permanently and from 9 am – 6 pm EST.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely recognition of revenue following ASC 606 and other applicable accounting standards.
- Review contracts to determine proper revenue recognition treatment.
- Recognize revenue for three entities
- Analyze and resolve revenue-related issues.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue reports.
- Coordinate with the finance team to ensure accurate reporting of revenue-related accounts.
- Reconcile balance sheet related accounts, such as A/R, Accrued A/R, and deferred revenue.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
- Maintain and improve internal controls over revenue recognition processes.
- Prepare schedules for various tax reporting requirements, such as revenue by state.
- Understand and reconcile local state sales tax calculations.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
- Work closely with sales, legal, and operations teams to understand business transactions and ensure proper revenue recognition.
- Follow up with customers weekly to ensure invoices are processed timely.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant accounting experience, with at least 3 years in revenue accounting.
- Expert with ASC 606 and other revenue recognition standards.
- Experience in a high-growth company is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and revenue recognition principles.
- Proficiency in NetSuite, ideally with experience using ASC 606 and Advanced Billing modules.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
