Senior QA Engineer

Salary: £37,500 – £47,500 per annum

Location: fully remote, anywhere in the UK

Hours: 35 hours per week, including a 2pm finish on a Friday!

Fruugo is a global e-commerce marketplace business built using a complex set of proprietary Java -based applications. The applications are built, maintained, and run by a strong in-house engineering department staffed with backend and frontend software engineers and infrastructure engineers. We work in fast-paced agile environment and deploy new functionality at least weekly.

Role Purpose

This senior role will be focused on working within our platform team to support the continued improvement and stability of our core architecture. This may include some aspects of performance testing and will need someone who enjoys a challenge that is outside of testing ‘just’ functionality. An ability to balance the needs of the delivery schedule against the investigative time and test will be a key skill.

You will have the opportunity to learn new skills and take on challenges in an extremely technically focused team. As the technical landscape of the company is varied and complex it demands attention to detail, great communication skills and a steep learning curve. You will work within a high trust environment with autonomy and within a very senior team. This role would also suit a developer or dev ops person looking to move into a QA role.

Requirements

Core Accountabilities

  • Partnering with the software engineers to drive and define QA standards and software quality
  • Detecting, logging, and reporting functional and non-functional bugs.
  • Delivering evidence of impact through investigative means which may not be known at before starting the process such as performance impacts of a changes
  • Checking and comparing data before and after changes and migrations
  • Work in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver change against aggressive schedules.
  • Maintain and extend existing manual and automated regression tests.
  • Be involved from the early stages of planning throughout the development lifecycle.

Skills & Knowledge Required

  • Minimum 6 years of QA and/or development experience
  • Experience creating  automated regression tests and working with regression test frameworks
  • Experience working with complex software architectures
  • Some performance testing experience is preferred
  • Experience in communicating with users, developers and product managers to collect test requirements and describe test plans
  • Experience in a continuous integration/test environment within an Agile team
  • Solid database (SQL, Non-relational) experience
  • High attention to detail and solid analytical skills
  • Must possess interpersonal skills and be able to effectively communicate with users to test, and debug software all the way to the end product
  • Some security testing experience is desirable
  • Some experience in eCommerce is desirable

The position is primarily homeworking, with the requirement to attend our UK company offices on occasions as and when needed.
