The Opportunity

The North America Business Unit (NA BU) is a dynamic team spanning North America and working on a suite of thriving, long standing impactful bodies of work. The Business Unit includes NASA’s Space Apps Hackathon and Collective to a Wellbeing Economy Building initiative anchored by Headstream to a Climate Economy Building initiative anchored by For Climate Tech. This Senior Project Manager role will be part of the Consulting Group team within the North America Business Unit, where we connect with new clients, explore new problems, build community and / or capacity as part of our work to build economies that are good for people and the planet. 

The Consulting Group executes projects with government, corporate and foundation clients in the areas of Discovery, Design and Strategy. The work of  this group involves  developing insights, strategies and solutions that lead to social, environmental and economic impact, as well as pilots for future scalable programs. This dynamic team requires operational systems to deliver on and evolve current offerings, so that we may build a more sustainable, healthy and equitable future. 

While this role sits within the Consulting Group, it also collaborates with and supports programs across the Business Unit as skills, capacity and needs require. This position will report directly to the Senior Director of Consulting within the North America Business Unit.

Essential Functions 

  • Contribute to the strategic vision, operational design, and scaling of the Consulting Group, managed by the Senior Director of Consulting with oversight and guidance of the Senior VP of the North America Business Unit.
  • Design and implement strategies and structures to execute successful project and client management, and to implement projects on time and budget. This will involve managing one or more high value or complex projects at a time and will require tight coordination with the Senior Director of Consulting and the broader team. 
  • Support the operational set up including supporting and refining the Opportunity to Operations process, team and client kick offs and retros to drive effectiveness across a new group within the North America Business Unit. 
  • Contribute to the growth of the Consulting Group by engaging with business development efforts, including renewals, network building and proposal development. 
  • Understand, adapt, refine and build capacity around SecondMuse methodologies including research, design, strategy and pilot development and delivery. Effectively and efficiently adapt the methodology to client needs and desired impact.
  • Manage clients and implementation partner organizations to successfully deliver projects and build new, trusting relationships that lead to new work.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in startup environment, consulting, program management, corporate, design or research
  • Strategic vision paired with high level executive function
  • Ability to manage complex and diverse client, partner, and team relationships
  • Fluency in human-centered design practice with ability to translate insights to inform design processes
  • Specialization in equitable, inclusive practices either from a particular lens or more generally
  • Ability to participate in and contribute to service design and strategic thinking 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, such as the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with others even under stress and across sectors
  • Cross cultural competency with the ability to flex between different content areas, time zones, project types and cultures both internally and externally
  • Ability to manage multiple and distinct bodies of work, projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to mentor and coach others
  • Ability to establish performance metrics for direct reports
  • Fluent in Miro, Slack and Google Workspace
  • Comfort with ambiguity and an evolving organization and practice
