Location
Remote in Eastern Australia (preferably Sydney, Brisbane or Hobart); Hybrid in Melbourne
The Role
DISCO is looking for a Senior Product Designer to help us build the operating system for the music industry. You’ll join our Platforms team, where you’ll design beautiful flows for our core app experience, create exciting new product capabilities and help manage and centralise our design system. The successful candidate:
- Will have at least 3 years’ experience working as a Product Designer in Australia
- Has demonstrated experience driving great UX outcomes within a cross-functional team alongside Product Managers and Engineers
- Is able to move between different phases of a new feature, from research and discovery through to final UI polish, with ease
- Cares about getting the little details right, but also has a desire to interrogate and understand the drivers and context behind the work they’re doing
- Is a natural team player, and will make valuable contributions to their team as well as the broader Product Design practice at DISCO
Responsibilities
Reporting to our Head of Product, you’ll:
- Collaborate with the product and engineering peers within your cross-functional team to deliver great outcomes for our customers
- Drive the process for design, iteration and polish of the core features that your team is responsible for
- Work with the other designers and frontend engineers at DISCO to standardise and evolve our design system, and ensure its adoption across our product portfolio
- Lead customer research and discovery for your team, helping ensure our customers’ voice is represented during the prioritisation and scoping/design phases of their work
- Proactively identify pain points and rough edges within DISCO’s UX, and work with your colleagues across product and design to plan and execute on a steady stream of improvements
- Provide feedback and critique to your peers in product and design, improving the quality of our work and contributing to how our processes evolve over time
- Help support our agile ways of working by actively contributing to standups, retros and team planning
Requirements
You should have at least 3 years of experience in the following areas:
- User Research
- UX Design
- UI Design (Figma)
- Product discovery and sense-making
- Group facilitation / Problem solving
- Exposure to Design Systems, including rolling out changes and supporting adoption
Nice to Haves
- Experience with front-end development technologies (either HTML/CSS or React)
- Experience working on a product related the creative industries (ie audio/video/media)
