About the role

The objective of the Platform Engineer at Hubtype is to contribute to the development, deployment, and maintenance of our SaaS platform. As well as to keep the infrastructure serving the platform and the whole company activities secure, available and compliance. We are ISO27001 certified and our customers are very demanding in terms of security and privacy.

This role will focus on leveraging AWS, Terraform, and Postgres to build and optimize our platform infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and performance. And also the observability of the platform with CloudWatch, New Relic and PagerDuty.

The team you are joining is also responsible for the back end part that integrates with the messaging platforms and the conversational apps. This means developing in Python over Django and Celery. This is optional for this position.

Typical responsibilities of a Platform Engineer at Hubtype include:

  • Architect and maintain the AWS infrastructure, leveraging services like Fargate, S3, RDS, Lambda, and CloudFront among others.
  • Utilize Terraform to provision and manage cloud resources, ensuring infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and cost-effective.
  • Optimize database performance and manage data integrity for the Postgres database.
  • Implement and improve CI/CD pipelines to enable efficient and automated software delivery.
  • Monitor platform performance, identify bottlenecks, and proactively optimize system resources.
  • Implement and maintain security best practices, helping us maintain the ISO27001 certification and providing responses to customer queries about platform security and architecture.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve platform-related issues, and participate in on-call rotations if required.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and emerging technologies related to platform engineering.
  • (Optional) Collaborate with the Product Engineers team to design and implement scalable and efficient backend systems using Django/Python.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in Platform Engineering, SRE, Cloud Management or DevOps
  • English & Spanish Proficiency
  • Proven experience implementing and maintaining security best practices and tooling to comply with security standards and compliance in Cloud Environments
  • Nice to have: experience in AWS security tooling like WAF, Guard Duty, Config, Security Hub etc
  • Proven experience maintaining CI systems, deployment pipelines, auto-scaling and observability for real-world back end applications with high loads
  • Proven experience with AWS services, particularly Fargate, RDS, Lambda, CloudFront and S3
  • Advanced skills in SQL Database administration, preferable PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, preferably Terraform
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment as well as independently, and meet required schedules and timelines.
  • Understand business requirements, propose solutions and implement them. Effective problem solving skills.
  • Create good and clear technical documentation
  • Nice to have: Proficiency in Django/Python web development and/or debugging, including experience with frameworks, such as Django Rest Framework
  • Nice to have: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent structured training.
