The Opportunity

Novel Labs is a leading web3 production studio that specializes in developing NFTs, storytelling, gaming, animation, and community building. As a pioneer in the field, we leverage blockchain technology to create immersive experiences that push the boundaries of art and technology.

We are currently seeking a talented Senior Inking Artist (Contract) with strong capabilities to join our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects within the web3 ecosystem, contributing your expertise in inking and comic book illustration to bring our visions to life. You will collaborate closely with our creative team, including writers, artists, and animators, to create visually stunning and compelling artwork for our NFT collections.

Responsibilities:

  • Create high-quality inked artwork for one or more of our products such as NFT-collections, game assets, comics.
  • Deliver top quality assets production inking for our High Res collection
  • Focus on character traits of our NFT collection (Forms / Mouth / Wings)
  • Collaborate with the creative team to understand their vision and translate it into visually appealing artwork.
  • Bring life and personality to characters through skillful inking techniques.
  • Ensure consistency in the visual style and maintain the artistic integrity of the projects.
  • Work within project timelines and deliver artwork on schedule.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior artists when necessary.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and techniques, continuously improving your skills and knowledge.
  • Contribute to the development of the web3 community by sharing your expertise and participating in industry events and discussions.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who has:

    • Proven experience as an inking artist in the field of web-based comics, animation, or related industries.
    • Strong portfolio showcasing your inking skills and artwork.
    • Proficiency in state of the art digital art tools and software, 
    • Bonus if you have 3D skills in Blender (or similar)  and  Gravity Sketch VR
    • Excellent understanding of anatomy, perspective, lighting, and composition.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take direction from the creative leads.
    • A keen eye for detail and the ability to work with precision.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills to meet project deadlines.
    • Passionate about web3, NFTs, and the intersection of art and technology.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide and receive constructive feedback.
    • Ability to adapt to evolving project requirements and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Experience with blockchain technology and understanding of the NFT ecosystem is a plus.

    • People aren’t happy or effective when they are tired, stressed and over-worked. We encourage you to take at least 1 week off in each quarter plus public holidays and take time to spend doing things that are important to you with the people who matter.
    • (We’d prefer not to count up ‘holiday days taken’ as we’re really focussed on the work being done rather than when you do it!)
    • Weekly 1:1 check-ins from line managers and colleagues, and continuous wrap-around support.
    • Incentivised and rewarded for impact and contribution;
