Symmetrio is recruiting a Senior Building Automation Systems Architect / Engineer for its customer, a large government organization in Philadelphia.  The Senior Building Automation Systems Architect will lead the requirements definition, solution architecture and implementation of enterprise smart building solutions.  This is a unique opportunity to build an enterprise system from the “ground up”, transforming hundreds of existing facilities / buildings into a smart environment through the integration of architecture, engineering, and technology.  The ideal candidate will have familiarity with a wide variety of building automation input sensors (HVAC, electrical, lighting, access control, etc.), IoT devices and controls, and BAS control systems.  The Sr Building Automation Systems Architect will collaborate with stakeholders across the organization, from Information Technology, Sustainability, Facilities and others, to engineer effective solutions for sustainability, on-going operation and monitoring, and energy efficiency objectives.   Candidates must have extensive network engineering experience (VRF/OSPF/BGP).

This is a full-time position with competitive compensation, health benefits, PTO/ Holidays, and a 401k retirement plan (4% match).  This is a remote position, and may require occasional travel to Philadelphia, PA.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with stakeholders & define BAS requirements / scope; create detailed technical project documentation
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to design and develop control systems for building automation projects.
  • Design and architect control system drawings and schematics
  • Create detailed specifications and schematics for control system components
  • Develop Proof of Concepts
  • Provide technical support and leadership to plan, schedule and execute hardware and software engineering
  • Develop technical implementation plans of building automation systems software integration projects 
  • Work with project team to ensure proper operation of the automation and software solutions.
  • Conduct thorough testing of control systems to ensure functionality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with a geographically distributed team

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. 
  • 5+ years related work experience with building automation/controls  
  • 5+ years as a Solutions Architect, IT Systems / Network Engineer; advanced expertise with  routing / network protocols (VRF/OSPF/BGP) in large, enterprise environments 
  • Working knowledge of various BAS platforms  
  • Advanced understanding of HVAC, access control and / or other building / electronic control systems 
  • Competency in Office365 suite of applications (Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, Project
