Remote Discovery Paralegal

Job Type: Full-Time

Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM Pacific Time, with a 1-hour break

Salary: $1,000 per month

Job Overview: 

We’re looking for a remote Discovery Paralegal who is not only experienced but also highly engaged and dependable. The ideal candidate is responsive, communicative, open to feedback, focused during work hours, and highly organized with strong time management skills. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment and can confidently manage the discovery process from start to finish with minimal supervision, while supporting a U.S.-based legal team in ensuring all discovery and litigation tasks are handled efficiently and professionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, propound, and respond to all forms of written discovery, including Form Interrogatories, Special Interrogatories, Requests for Admission, and Requests for Production. 
  • Analyze discovery responses to identify deficiencies, boilerplate objections, and improper claims of privilege; flag and discuss with supervising attorney.
  • Prepare and serve timely supplemental discovery in accordance with case strategy and court deadlines.
  • Draft and issue subpoenas for records; coordinate service, follow-up, and review of records for completeness and relevance.
  • Prepare expert demands and independently draft expert designations based on case needs and firm templates.
  • Assist with deposition preparation by reviewing discovery responses, identifying key facts, and organizing outlines or summaries.
  • Coordinate and manage document productions, including Bates-stamping, indexing, and ensuring all production obligations are met.
  • Maintain and monitor discovery calendars, ensuring all deadlines are met and follow-ups are scheduled.
  • Assist with trial preparation specifically related to discovery, including organizing exhibits, creating witness files, and preparing discovery binders.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, experts, vendors, and opposing counsel regarding discovery matters.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and senior paralegals to identify discovery gaps, anticipate needs, and ensure files are litigation-ready at all stages.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience with a focus on discovery
  • Strong knowledge of California civil procedure (non-negotiable)
  • Experience in personal injury law and previous work in a law firm setting (non-negotiable)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multitask
  • Tech-savvy and familiar with legal and document management tools
  • Comfortable working independently in a fully remote setup while meeting strict deadlines
  • Proficiency with the following tools is highly beneficial:
    • Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • Adobe Acrobat Pro (for organizing and redacting PDFs)
    • Basic knowledge of cloud storage tools such as Google Drive or Dropbox
