Job Title: Senior ProfiSafe Engineer (1099 Contract)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior ProfiSafe Engineer for a 1099 contract opportunity to support the development and implementation of safety-critical automation applications. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in ProfiSafe for the transmission of safety-relevant data in industrial automation environments and a strong background in functional safety. This role requires a highly skilled engineer who can work independently, troubleshoot complex systems, and contribute to the overall architecture and system design.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement ProfiSafe-based solutions for safety-critical automation applications.
• Configure and troubleshoot ProfiSafe communication in industrial environments.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, ISO 13849) and functional safety requirements.
• Integrate ProfiSafe into existing automation systems and ensure seamless communication with PLCs and field devices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including controls engineers, software developers, and system architects.
• Perform system-level testing and validation of safety protocols.
• Provide technical documentation, training, and support to internal teams and clients.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience working with ProfiSafe in industrial automation environments.
• Strong knowledge of functional safety standards (IEC 61508, ISO 13849) and safety architecture design.
• Experience with Profinet and other industrial communication protocols.
• Familiarity with safety PLCs and industrial automation hardware.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex communication issues in industrial systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Must be located in the United States.
• Must be able to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance if requested.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in regulated or high-security environments.
• Experience with embedded systems in safety-critical applications.
• Certification in functional safety (e.g., CFSE).
• Experience with industrial safety controllers and fail-safe mechanisms.
