The Role:

Team Australia is looking for an energetic and innovative Product Owner to oversee all aspects of production related to our Australian Originals stories and accompanying resources within the wider Australian product. They will be responsible for the day-to-day production of their product area whilst also implementing the longer-term plans of our business strategy, focusing on adding value and building this into their sprint plans. The ideal candidate will have leadership experience, a working knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and a passion for children’s books.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping those who teach by providing high quality resources that react to the requirements of Australian educators. This person will also have experience, knowledge and a keen interest in children’s literature and also understand this market within Australia. 

This exciting role will give you the opportunity to play a key role in sharing the Originals collection with thousands of children and educators across Australia. 

Ongoing projects/how you’ll spend your day:

  • Communicating with the development team to share product vision and priorities
  • Communicating with the team of Product Owners, customer-facing teams and key areas of the business
  • Planning and coordinating future releases of resources 
  • Understanding the pain points affecting our customers and identifying ways of addressing them
  • Monitoring changes and developments within the Australian Curriculum and responding to changing customer needs
  • Reporting on product performance and creating and following a product strategy
  • Overseeing the product journey and communicating this with stakeholders
  • Conducting competitor analysis, market and field research to inform product judgements
  • Researching and developing innovative concepts within the market
  • Supporting partnership opportunities
  • Maintaining and developing the product landing page and categories to ensure the best possible user experience.

In this role, you will learn:

  • The role of a Product Owner.

You’ll work with:

  • The Product Owners, a team of six current and former teachers, all very passionate about their products
  • Data analysts, to identify the key information and the best ways of presenting and interacting with it.
  • The Product Manager, who will be your line manager and work closely with you to ensure that the resources considered to be of the highest value to our customers are available to them
  • Other departments, anything from assisting marketing to identify which products to highlight and when, the sales team to assist with a school query, Twinkl Cares to help with customer understanding of our products, partnerships to advise on a partnership collaboration or brand to look at the branding of a new product line
  • The Marketing Team Leader, to organise campaigns, deliver updates and identify future product opportunities. 

Requirements

To succeed in the role, you will:

  • Have strong organisational skills, someone who thrives on spinning multiple plates at a time and is able to prioritise, devise and coordinate projects
  • Demonstrate passion and expertise in Literacy, Primary English or children’s literature
  • Be organised, able to work to deadlines and manages time effectively
  • Be able to communicate with colleagues and our external partners effectively
  • Be data-driven, using it to inform decisions
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Work to KPIs, analyse performance and drive improvements to achieve these
  • Have a broad teaching experience in Australian primary schools, meaning you are able to advise and support resource and product creation, recognising opportunities for improvements to both content and process
  • Have knowledge and experience of the Australian Curriculum
  • Have an understanding of target marketing
  • Have experience and/or a keen interest in developing a Product Owner mindset.

We’re interested in anyone who meets one, or a combination of the following:

  • Qualifications: Undergraduate, Postgraduate or Masters degree in primary education or appropriate equivalent degree
  • Experience: A broad teaching experience, preferably across the primary years and in different schools.
