The Paralegal provides a range of legal support and administration to lawyers and legal executives from a virtual setting. This individual will assist with case preparation, research, drafting documents, and maintaining legal files. Candidates must be self-motivated, highly organized, and capable of managing their workload with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist attorneys with the preparation of legal documents such as contracts, briefs, pleadings, appeals, wills, and contracts.
  • Conduct legal research and factual investigations; prepare memoranda and summaries of findings.
  • Verify legal citations in prepared documents.
  • Draft legal documents including routine pleadings and motions, affidavits, and interrogatories.
  • Prepare correspondence to clients, opposing counsel, and court officials.
  • Organize and maintain documents in a paper or electronic filing system.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and deadlines.
  • Communicate with clients to gather information, convey case updates, and coordinate documents.
  • Manage attorney calendars and case files.
  • Coordinate law office activity such as subpoena delivery.
  • Assist with accounting and billing.
  • Stay updated on legal research techniques, court rules, and other legal procedural matters.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in paralegal studies or a related field is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program is preferred.
  • Proven working experience as a paralegal.
  • Experience in working remotely and familiarity with legal databases and systems.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology, regulations, and court system.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with remote communication and collaboration tools such as Zoom, Slack, and cloud-based document management systems.
  • Strong research and reporting skills.
  • Good understanding of legal references and law-reporting techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
