Junior Payroll Specialist – Netherlands
We are looking for a very good Dutch and English speaker located in Europe.
Role & Responsibilities:
1. Learn and support the management of the end-to-end payroll cycle – ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll data, including gathering, calculating, inputting, and validating information
2. Handle necessary payroll documentation
3. Support the Dutch and Belgian payroll specialist, including being in close contact with the local authorities to work on the required paperwork, handle all relevant filings and registrations for social security, tax authorities, and other statutory requirements
4. Support to ensure compliance with local statutory processing, including monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings – This involves obtaining relevant documentation from staff, computing tax processing, and producing required reports/forms for filing to tax authorities and employees
5. Maintain and update employee data accurately in the payroll database
6. Generate and distribute payslips promptly to all staff members
7. Address employee inquiries related to wages, deductions, attendance, and time records
8. Stay up-to-date with exemptions or status changes and handle them efficiently
9. Support to comply with payroll policies, procedures, and relevant laws, ensuring compliance
10. Help to investigate and resolve discrepancies in all payroll-related tasks
11. Maintain strict confidentiality of employees’ pay records
12. Prepare and complete payroll reports for record-keeping purposes or managerial review
13. Provide support to HR operations in the country
14. Stay informed about the latest HR and payroll trends and regulatory changes, communicating relevant updates to the teams
15. Collaborate with the Payroll Specialists, ensuring that payroll calculations are correctly and timely processed
16. Assist in other ad hoc projects as requested
Requirements
1. You may have a background in payroll processing, including user knowledge of payroll software (appreciated but not mandatory)
2. You love learning new things, you enjoy taking initiative, and you do not shy away from a challenge
3. Meticulous, with strong numerical skills (good with numbers). Detail-oriented, with the capability to handle complex tasks.
4. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are necessary for building relationships with stakeholders, clients, partners, and team members
5. Strong strategic planning and analytical skills
6. Ability to work in dynamic environments with changing priorities
7. Self-motivated, trustworthy, and able to work independently to tight deadlines
8. Open to flexibility and positive approach towards change
9. Flexibility in managing multiple tasks and priorities
10. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel)
11. Fluent or very good language knowledge in English and Dutch (at least B2). Any other languages would be an advantage.
