Role Overview

As an Industrial Designer, you will play a pivotal role in driving product innovation, ensuring quality, and contributing to the overall success of the company’s products on the Amazon platform. The role requires a dynamic individual who can seamlessly navigate the intersection of design, manufacturing, and market dynamics. This is an intermediate to senior level role that will report to the Product Development Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Design and Development: Transform Senior Product Researcher/Analyst specifications into product designs, ensuring compliance with the overall criteria.
  • Quality Issue Resolution: Address manufacturing-related quality issues, implementing design modifications to enhance product quality.
  • Patent Innovation: Interpret patent research, innovate within design parameters, and collaborate with the Legal Manager for patent protection.
  • Prototype Development and Testing: Oversee prototype creation, testing for functionality and durability, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine designs.
  • Market Testing with Graphic Designer: Collaborate with the graphic designer to execute market testing strategies, incorporating customer feedback and market trends into design improvements.
  • Collaboration with Product Procurement and Sourcing: Work closely with the Product Procurement and Sourcing team, providing them with detailed briefs to facilitate the translation of designs into tangible products, ensuring seamless production and alignment with manufacturing capabilities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with marketing, sales, and customer support teams to incorporate insights into product designs, ensuring competitiveness on the Amazon platform.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, 3D Design or another related field
  • At least 3 years of hands-on product design experience
  • Skills and experience in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Knowledge of modern design tools and design systems
  • Strong capabilities in 3D modeling: Solidworks/ Blender/Maya/Autocad etc – to be used for production, explanation videos and advertising purposes
  • Strong ability to balance user experience with brand objectives when designing
  • Capability to use constructive feedback and apply it to improve design quality and demonstrate creative thinking skills
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines and work with cross-functional teams
  • A willingness to stay up-to-date with the latest design trends and emerging technologies
  • Amenable to working under Australian (Melbourne) business hours

Benefits

Monthly base pay offer for this role is at US$800 to $1,000 based on experience.
