Financial Controller

JOB OVERVIEW:
We are looking for an experienced Controller who will be responsible for the accurate and timely financial management of the organization. The successful applicant will be responsible for accounting operations, production of periodic financial reports, development and maintenance of operational KPIs using a variety of financial and non-financial metrics, and maintenance of accounting records. The individual must have the ability to manage and analyze complex and high volumes of data and be deadline oriented with a high level of accuracy. In addition, the position is responsible for providing a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Developing internal control guidelines, policies, and procedures for budget accounting, cash and credit management, administration, and other activities.
- Coordinating and directing budgeting, procurement, investment activities, and financial planning.
- Ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements and professional standards.
- Establishing and maintaining financial controls within the accounting department.
- Preparing and presenting financial reports and risk analysis.
- Guiding financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Providing support to management, particularly in commercial and financial matters.
- Creating reports that help senior leadership understand company financials.
- Reviewing accounts receivable/accounts payable systems and making recommendations for improvements, streamlining, and system creation.
- Conducting basic bookkeeping.
- Providing periodic reporting and reviewing project financial metrics/performance.
- Assisting in managing the company’s financial activities, including financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and M&A activities.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and Bill.com to ensure accurate financial record-keeping and efficient payment processes.
- Developing and maintaining cash flow forecasts to support decision-making and ensure adequate liquidity.
- Collaborating on the budgeting process, providing insights and analysis to help the company meet its financial goals.
- Supporting M&A activities, including due diligence, financial analysis, and integration efforts.
- Proactively identifying opportunities to enhance financial processes, streamline operations, and improve efficiency.
- Conducting financial analysis to provide insights into cost management, variance analysis, and performance metrics.
- Collaborating with various departments to ensure alignment between financial goals and overall company objectives.
- Train and develop existing and new team members of the finance department
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field.
- Experience with payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Proven experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) and Bill.com.
- Experience in cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and M&A activities.
- Controllers must have solid communication, technology, analytical and management skills.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Requires knowledge of U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations and provisions of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
- 7+ years work experience in accounting or a related field.
- Understanding of applicable laws and regulations.
- Understanding of economic principles, financial markets, and banking.
- Understanding of financial data analysis and reporting.
- Knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
- Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skills.
- Proven experience in financial project management.
- Advanced computer skills, specifically in Excel, and spreadsheet.
- Must be able to communicate financial information into sound business language so people of all levels can understand.
- Knowledge of federal regulation on taxes and reporting.
- Deep understanding of finance.
- Candidates with master’s degree in business administration (MBA) or professional accreditation such as certified public accountant (CPA), certified management accountant (CMA) or chartered global management accountant (CGMA) is a plus.
