We are looking for a Director, Field Medical Team who will assist with developing initiatives that increase the value and productivity of the Field Medical Team. S/he is responsible for delivering core operational work to support RMSs in field and responsible for leading efforts to coalesce customer insights from the field. S/he is accountable for coaching RMSs in field to ensure a valued scientific customer experience. The Director, Field Medical Team is expected to assist with team activities, serve as a coach to RMS colleagues based upon strong field-based competencies and scientific expertise, and support onboarding and identification of scientific materials required to effectively conduct scientific exchange. The position is remote and reports to the Head of US Field Medical Affairs.
- Manage operational aspects of key field medical activities across the field medical team
- Assist with coaching RMSs to support key deliverables that focus on issues specific to customer need to facilitate scientific exchange
- Support RMSs in field through assisting with training, communications, insights, and territory medical engagement plan development
- Provide leadership for medical congresses and meetings
- Plan and assist with field medical meetings
- Identify and champion field team needs within Medical Affairs and the larger organization
- Can step in for open RMS positions during leaves of absences
- Stay current/develop expertise in disease state, asset knowledge
- Lead special projects as directed by the Head of US Field Medical Affairs
- Work with the Head of US Field Medical Affairs on strategy, mission, vision, objectives, and priorities
- Serve as the lead for field medical documentation and regular reporting, as well as any associated CRM troubleshooting
- Responsible for field medical insight initiatives coordination, data gathering, and reporting
- Assist in developing, prioritizing, and facilitating key field medical activities & strategic initiatives
- Provide scientific input and participate on strategic planning teams and cross-functional initiatives
- Under the guidance of Head of US Field Medical Affairs, provides scientific support for company sponsored meetings
- Actively contributes to internal project teams as directed by the Head of US Field Medical Affairs
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
• Advanced Clinical/Science Degree is required (PharmD, PhD, MSN, NP)
• Greater than five years of pharmaceutical experience as a medical liaison required
• Greater than 5 years of field management experience in Medical Affairs required
• Pediatric endocrinology, endocrinology or rare disease experience in the medical liaison role preferred
• Must be outgoing and appreciate the opportunity to interact with healthcare providers and researchers
• Must have an incredible passion for patients
• Outstanding organizational and time management skills; proven abilities to manage multiple, often complex and sometimes competing, objectives, goals and other priorities to effective and efficient conclusion
• Experience leading or managing RMSs/MSLs and/or demonstrated ability to lead without authority is preferred
• Previous management responsibilities with proven success in leading people and projects to consistently deliver desired results highly preferred
• Focus on being a coach and a catalyst to team members
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; exhibits professional maturity, confidence, and competence
• Strong attention-to-detail
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Must possess a valid driver’s license in the state of residence; must possess and maintain a satisfactory driving record
• Business travel, by air or car, is required for regular internal /external business meetings and field visits for coaching individuals (up to 70% of time)
• This is a field-based position
