Responsibilities
- Coordinate the credentialing process for optometry professionals, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Review and verify documentation presented by prospective healthcare providers for accuracy and completeness
- Submit credentialing applications to various insurance organizations and follow up for timely processing
- Maintain and update provider files and databases with essential credentialing information
- Communicate effectively with providers, insurance carriers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and resolve any issues
- Monitor and track re-credentialing and credentialing expirations to ensure ongoing compliance
- Collaborate with the billing department to facilitate payment processes and insurance verifications specific to optometry practices
- Stay informed about changes in industry regulations and best practices related to credentialing in the optometry field
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Credentialing Specialist, preferably in an optometry or US healthcare setting
- In-depth knowledge of credentialing processes and compliance regulations
- Familiarity with optometric practices and the associated documentation requirements
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proficiency in using credentialing software and electronic health records
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
- A background in insurance claim filing and processing would be a plus.
- Amenable to work in a graveyard shift (US time hours)
