Content Manager

The Content Manager plays a central leadership role on GrantStation’s Content Operations team, ensuring the accuracy, usability, and strategic value of our funding database. This role focuses on managing content workflows, overseeing a small but growing international team, and using AI tools to streamline research and editorial processes. Reporting directly to the Director of Content Operations, the Content Manager will maintain and evolve the database product while also identifying funding opportunities and contributing to long-term content strategy.

Job Responsibilities

Content Oversight & Workflow Management

  • Lead daily operations of the content research and update process for GrantStation’s funder database.
  • Supervise and support an international team, ensuring editorial quality and workflow efficiency.
  • Design and implement streamlined processes—leveraging AI and automation where appropriate—to improve the accuracy, timeliness, and consistency of funder profiles.
  • Analyze record update data in order to ensure team progress and target KPIs.
  • Ensure compliance with internal editorial standards and best practices.
  • Maintain and evolve additional content resources for our members.

Strategic Content Development

  • Identify new grantmakers (U.S. and international) for inclusion in the database and oversee the creation of accurate, insightful profiles.
  • Contribute to content innovation by testing and adopting AI tools to assist with data entry, trend analysis, and profile writing.
  • Lead content-driven projects that enhance the user experience and expand access to high-value grant opportunities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Support

  • Report directly to the Director of Content Operations, providing updates on team productivity, strategic needs, and content performance.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve the integration of research content across GrantStation’s products.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and training for new research and content staff as needed.

Additional Duties

  • Identify and help pursue funding opportunities that support content growth and innovation.
  • Manage special editorial projects such as homepage features, federal grant listings, and competition tracking spreadsheets.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to cross-departmental initiatives.
  • Provide general editorial and writing support across projects as assigned by the Director of Content Operations.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, History, the Humanities, Political Science, or Cultural Studies.
  • Proven experience in content management, CRM, editorial leadership, or digital publishing—preferably in the nonprofit or philanthropic sector.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with a commitment to clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a small team and oversee complex editorial workflows.
  • Experience with AI tools, automation platforms, and content management systems.
  • Strategic thinker who is self-motivated and deadline-driven.
  • Fluency in English.

Supplemental Qualifications

  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations, whether in a paid role or volunteering capacity. Passion for the mission is a huge bonus!
  • Familiarity with IRS Form 990s and/or other financial documents related to grantmakers is a plus.

Work Schedule

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Flexible work hours with regular deadlines and team collaboration
  • Remote — must be eligible to work in the United States or Canada

Benefits

Competitive salary of $50,000-$60,000/year USD for full-time, depending on experience. Additional benefits include:
