Role Overview:

As a Communications Strategist, you begin your day aligned with the studio’s afternoon rhythm. You engage in real-time collaboration with the Strategy Director and Lead Strategist between 3:00pm and 6:00pm AEST. Your afternoons and evenings (South African time) are your focused zone: a time for deep thinking, shaping strategy, and progressing deliverables that inspire creative excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Client Strategy

  • Analyse client briefs and identify core goals and challenges.
  • Develop return briefs, scopes of work, and phased strategy plans.
  • Conduct audience research using interviews, surveys, and desk research.
  • Distil insights into actionable strategy, themes, and messaging.
  • Translate insights into compelling creative briefs and campaign direction.
  • Monitor project timelines and deliverables to ensure timely progression.

Storytelling & Content Development

  • Craft brand stories, tone-of-voice guidelines, and messaging frameworks.
  • Adapt messaging for websites, campaigns, and stakeholder communications.
  • Refine and proof content to align with brand voice and strategic direction.
  • Support internal content, case studies, and project storytelling initiatives.

Digital Marketing & Campaign Execution

  • Plan and implement multi-channel digital campaigns (search, social, email).
  • Write ad copy and coordinate visual assets for platforms like Google Ads, Meta, and LinkedIn.
  • Monitor campaign performance using analytics tools and optimise based on insights.
  • Share campaign outcomes with internal teams and clients.

Client Engagement & Collaboration

  • Participate in virtual client meetings and workshops during working hours.
  • Prepare and circulate detailed meeting notes and follow-ups.
  • Maintain positive, insightful client relationships through proactive communication.
  • Align project actions and outcomes with client expectations and timelines.

Creative Collaboration

  • Provide strategic direction during creative briefings and concept reviews.
  • Offer input during ideation sessions and help ensure strategic alignment of design work.
  • Support the creation of award submissions and portfolio case studies.

Studio & Business Development

  • Contribute to internal strategy and execution of our client’s marketing calendar.
  • Write strategic content for social media, PR, and business development.
  • Assist in developing proposals and presentation materials for new business.

Remote Work & Time Management

  • Work aligned to studio hours for real-time collaboration (from 3:00pm AEST).
  • Progress deliverables independently during local business hours.
  • Maintain clear documentation using Wiplist and communicate progress effectively.
  • Uphold professionalism and clarity in all virtual interactions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in communications, marketing or strategic roles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills — you write with precision, purpose, and tone.
  • Confidence in presenting, editing, and supporting high-impact communication outcomes.
  • Fluency in remote collaboration tools: Google Workspace, Zoom, Slack, Miro, Figma.
  • The ability to move from abstract ideas to actionable frameworks and compelling deliverables.
  • A love of problem-solving, insight-hunting, and human-centred communication.
