Accessibility Web Developer
Serve as Web Developer specializing in Accessibility on a team at a Government client with an information-sharing mission. Build User Interface applications using the Agile development methodology. Be part of a dynamic team that works closely with the client. The candidate must be flexible, able to work in a fast-paced environment, juggle multiple tasks at once, work independently, and have superior interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate for this position has experience in visual design.
Under minimal direction, perform as an Accessibility Web Developer in the design, development, coding, testing, and debugging of enhancements to a new, mission critical enterprise application.
Responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
- Work as part of an integrated development team to perform development of a new application
- Develop User Interfaces using existing wireframes for development of interactive front end using HTML/CSS/ and VueJS
- Ensure UI meets Section 508/WCAG 2.0 Success Criteria at AA level
- Provide guidance and mentoring to other developers on accessibility requirements
- Perform manual and automated accessibility testing, identify areas of remediation and detail corrective actions
Requirements
Must be flexible, able to work in a highly collaborative environment, juggle multiple tasks at once, and work independently and collaboratively as needed. Must have superior interpersonal skills and strong communication skills.
- 5+ years experience working with complex web application development and accessibility standards.
- Experience in VueJS web development with a focus on user interface (UI) and user experience (UX)
- Solid understanding of Section 508/WCAG 2.X compliance requirements
- HTML/CSS
- Solid familiarity and experience in Agile Methodology
- Experience to develop User Stories, Wireframes and specifications
- Familiarity in user test planning and execution
- Previous experience in Visual Design
- Ability to pass basic government background check
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Accessibility Certification (i.e., Trusted Tester, IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC), or Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS)).
- Experience working in Agile teams
- Experience or exposure with ticketing automation tools such as Jira/Confluence
- Previous experience performing on a government contract
EDUCATION
- Undergraduate Degree highly desired but can be substituted with 4 additional years of experience
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Work location is remote with the potential of infrequent travel to the Midwest area
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident only (required by Federal client); background and credit check is necessary
