Position Information

SEARCH has an immediate opening for a Full-time Project Controller/Financial Analyst to join our accounting team.

The Project Controller (PC) project controller is responsible for financial, accounting and analysis for several business sectors. PC will provide leadership with relevant financial data required for budgetary and financial decisions. Will ensure projects comply with internal processes and GAAP. Responsible for proper setup and implementation of Costpoint accounting system (including but not limited to labor reporting/analysis, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cost reporting and allocations.) Work closely with Project Managers (PM) and assist them with all aspects of project finances.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct support to projects with any finance issues including project setup, billing, collections, analysis of actual vs. plan, overhead analysis, and errors resulting from process issues.
  • Reviews contract proposals and plans to determine timeframe, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, billing requirements, appropriate contract setup in financial system, and appropriate staffing requirements.
  • Works with PMs to ensure they understand their key business metric and project constraints. Monitors finance compliance with SEARCH policies and procedures and offers ideas/solutions for problem areas.
  • On a monthly basis, reviews and monitors project P&L with PMs and CFO.
  • Performs analyses and prepares Ad Hoc financial reports.
  • Prepares strategic plans and monitors variance between plan and actuals.
  • Ensures PM is aware of risk and assists PM with obtaining adequate funding by maintaining accurate records of expenditures, directing preparation of expenditure projections, and submitting timely requests for additional funding to the client.
  • Responsible for actuals reconciliation, budget change requests and ensuring proper cost controls and accounting.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business-related discipline
  • 3 years of experience related experience.
  • Knowledge of MS Office products with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Experience with Costpoint (at least 1 year).


Qualifications Preferred:

  • Understanding of the Cultural Resource Management (CRM) industry (firms, clients, contracts, new research, and projects) at the regionwide, nationwide, and worldwide level.
