About the Opportunity

At Skyven Technologies, we have developed a revolutionary heat pump technology to decarbonize industrial heat and move the needle on climate change. Our technologies have the potential to completely eliminate on-site CO2 emissions from industrial steam. We implement this technology through an innovative Energy-as-a-Service model that provides clean process heat to industrial facilities. We identify, fund, design, build, and install our cutting-edge, decarbonization technologies to help industrial manufacturers reach their sustainability goals, while minimizing their risk and reducing their operational expenses.

Industrial heat is responsible for roughly 20% of global CO2 emissions. That’s roughly equivalent to emissions generated by all transportation (including land, sea, and air) and is a compelling business opportunity – it will take an estimated $3.7 trillion in capital investment to decarbonize the sector by 2050. Skyven is at the forefront of this transformation and has recently been selected for a $145M investment from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to accelerate the deployment of our state-of-the-art Skyven Arcturus steam-generating heat pumps (SGHPs) at manufacturing facilities nationwide, revolutionizing how we address energy needs while combating climate change.

About the Role

In this role, you will report directly to the CEO and lead the Project Management team, overseeing and coordinating efforts with engineering firms, consultants, third-party vendors, general contractors, subcontractors, and operations and maintenance teams. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the entire project life cycle of industrial decarbonization projects, from conception and design through procurement, permitting, construction, start-up, and commissioning. To excel in this role, you must have proven experience managing industrial projects with total installation costs ranging from $25 million to $50 million. This position is remote, with periodic travel to project sites required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and expand the Project Management team
  • Oversee capital projects to ensure compliance with the Thermal Energy Services Agreement (TESA), meeting safety, cost, schedule, and quality goals
  • Manage multiple industrial decarbonization projects through all stages of the Stage-Gate Process, from proposal to ongoing operations and maintenance (O&M)
  • Coordinate with all project stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, financiers, program managers, engineering firms, permitting authorities, and contractors
  • Develop and manage project budgets and schedules
  • Identify and mitigate project risks through proactive strategies
  • Serve as the primary liaison between customers and project stakeholders
  • Oversee the entire procurement process for each project
  • Monitor and report on project progress, including metrics for cost, schedule, scope, and risk
  • Lead the bidding process for engineering firms, suppliers, and contractors
  • Negotiate to maximize customer satisfaction while minimizing costs, scope creep, and delays
  • Understand and negotiate contracts with suppliers and contractors
  • Review vendor, supplier, consultant, and contractor bids and engineering designs for accuracy and completeness
  • Implement lessons learned to improve future project processes
  • Successfully deliver industrial decarbonization projects to meet customer satisfaction

  • 7+ years of engineering and/or project management experience in a brownfield industrial construction environment (ideally in food & beverage, ethanol, chemical, or pulp & paper sectors)
  • 5+ years of project management experience leading major CapEx projects (>$25MM) that involve multiple functions, disciplines, customers, and sites
  • Proven experience in managing engineering firms, consultants, suppliers, contractors, subcontractors, and internal resources to ensure successful project execution
  • Familiarity with fixed and rotating equipment, MW-scale electrical infrastructure, and the Stage-Gate project delivery process
  • Strong technical knowledge in engineering and construction, including mechanical, piping, civil, structural, process, electrical, and controls
