Position Overview: 

The Jr. Energy Modeler (Trainee) will learn building energy modeling simulations, for energy efficient retrofit projects at existing multifamily buildings, while gaining hands on technical experience.  

Requirements

Must Have Qualifications:  

  • 1+ years’ experience in energy modeling or possess a relevant technical degree 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Possess an understanding of building science and energy conservation measures 
  • Possess an understanding of weatherization and of utility energy efficiency incentive programs  
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with team members who do not possess a technical background 
  • Proficiency with M365 Suit of Products (special focus on MS Excel) 
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. 

Location: Remote in the U.S.A. 

Travel: Some travel may be required depending on the needs of the company

Reports to: Engineering Manager 

Skill Level: Beginner

Education: 1 year of relevant work experience or possession of a relevant technical degree

Areas of Expertise: Energy Modeling, Building Science, Energy Efficiency 

Compensation: $50K/yr. DOE 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Learn to develop energy models using available data. 
  • Utilizing various modeling software to complete building energy models under the guidance of an ICAST Energy Modeler.  
  • Learn the application submissions process required to attain incentives from various state/utility energy efficiency and weatherization programs.   

 

Initial Goals for Success:

  • Learn how to energy model within 3 months 
  • Be able to create simple models of MF bldgs. independently within 6 months.
