About the role

As a member of the Numeracy Content team, you will be tasked with crafting, reviewing, and generating Numeracy materials specifically tailored for Secondary (7-10) levels within the Essential Assessment platform. You will collaborate with our other Numeracy Content Specialists and our Publishing Team to ensure the consistent delivery of top-notch materials aligned with the supported Australian curriculums. This initially will be a 12-month full-time, fixed term contract with the potential to extend or move into a permanent position. Our ideal candidate will be based in Melbourne or Sydney, however we can offer a fully remote role and are open to candidates anywhere across Australia.

What you will do

  • Write, edit and amend Y7-10 Numeracy content for Essential Assessment’s learning and assessment products, in line with our content quality standards and strategic delivery roadmap.
  • Constructively engage in editorial processes, including pre- and post-production feedback cycles and peer reviews, with the goal of continuously elevating standards.
  • Review and map Australian Curriculum, NSW Syllabus and Victorian Curriculum documents against Essential Assessment Numeracy content to ensure robust alignment and identify development opportunities.
  • Review existing Essential Assessment Numeracy online and paper-based resources; propose changes where necessary to continuously improve our Numeracy product offering.

About You

  • Secondary (Y7+) Mathematics teaching experience in Australia and relevant teaching qualifications
  • Mathematics assessment writing experience (digital and/or paper-based), underpinned by strong item-writing methodology and knowledge
  • A creative mind, with the ability to tap into a continual source of ideas and contexts to convert into original and engaging question types 
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to confidently and accurately map, interpret and deconstruct the progressive sequence of Mathematics curriculum points
  • Understanding of and genuine interest in Maths pedagogy and best practices in Maths teaching
  • A genuine openness to receive and apply feedback from others, with strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Strong time management, responsiveness to deadlines and an enjoyment of fast-paced work
  • Confidence with technology, in particular Microsoft Office and Google Suite
